REGISTER TODAY—SPACE IS LIMITED! Saturday, March 20th 10:30AM TO 11:30AM: DAVID JONES – NEW GARDEN PLANTS FOR 2010! See what’s new in annuals, perennials and shrubs for 2010 and how they can be used in your own garden landscape. David Jones “The Garden Guy,” will discuss the new arrivals as well as his own personal favorites and take a look back at some from previous years. There will be ample time for questions and answers. David is the resident Horticulturalist at Bucks Country Gardens. He studied Horticulture in Ireland and is a graduate of Kildalton Horticultural College, Waterford, Ireland. He is the resident plant doctor at Bucks Country Gardens and can be found in the “Garden Pharmacy.” 12:30PM TO 1:30PM: PANEL – BUILDING YOUR GREEN HOME This seminar will focus on the practical aspects of building green. Our panel of experts will discuss how to get started with “The Team Approach” to a successful conclusion with the lessons learned from an actual project located in Washington Crossing, Bucks County. Ruby Anderson purchased a property near the Delaware River in Washington Crossing in Bucks County as her family’s home. Her passion for creating a healthy and energy efficient family home was verified when she registered her home to be a LEED Platinum project. Working with her design and construction team within the SBA (Sustainable Building Advisor) education program, Ruby has initiated the project and plans to be able to celebrate its completion, with her family, for the winter holiday of 2010. The panel includes: David Hartke, Architect; Stampfl Hartke Associates, Inc.; Ruby Anderson, Homeowner; Bill Burke, Geothermal Consultant and Contractor, Total Comfort; Ted Inoue, Energy Auditor, Energy Testing and Consulting; David Kuhns, Zoning Officer for Upper Makefield Towhship 2:30PM TO 3:30PM: CHUCK GALE – FABULOUS PHILADELPHIA GARDENS Showcasing some of the most exquisite and colorful garden designs of the past four decades, Chuck Gale will take you on a pictorial tour of several never-before-seen private gardens in the Philadelphia area. Opulent photography and concise cultivation insight brings each amazing garden to life and demonstrates the breadth of style, innovation, creativity and execution by one of the country’s most highly regarded gardening families. Garnering numerous awards and recognitions for his ground breaking work- including honors from the American Society of Landscape Architects, the Royal Horticultural Society, the Pennsylvania Landscape and Nursery Association and the Philadelphia Flower Show; Chuck Gale will relate the stories of each garden’s creation, how and why design decisions developed. Chuck Gale, graduated from Delaware Valley College with a degree in Ornamental Horticulture, is the current president of Gale Nurseries and is the third generation to head the family business.
SATURDAY, MARCH 20TH Sunday, March 21st: Jerry Fritz is president of Jerry Fritz Garden Designs, Inc. and Linden Hill Gardens, located in Ottsville, Bucks County, Pennsylvania. His recent book, Lessons from Linden Hill: Design Tips and Planning Pointers was co-written with Nancy Ondra. He holds a BS in Ornamental Horticulture from Delaware Valley College and is a member of numerous professional organizations, including the Perennial Plant Association, the Hardy Plant Society, the Pennsylvania Horticultural Society, the Royal Horticultural Society, the Stone Foundation, Garden Writers of America and the American Nursery and Landscape Association. 12:30PM TO 1:30PM: JOHN VOIT – RAINWATER HARVESTING John Voit is the Technical Sales Manager for Aquascapes of the Delaware Valley. He has been an instrumental part in leading ADV and Aquascape Inc. in the development and distribution of a system incorporating traditional water features with the sustainability of rain water harvesting. 2:30PM TO 3:30PM: SHARON A. SHAW – ROOMS WITH A VIEW Sharon A. Shaw, president of Martin Shaw LLC, Landscape Design and Construction is a landscape designer and writer with a degree in Ornamental Horticulture and over a decade of experience creating outdoor living spaces in New York, New Jersey and Pennsylvania.
